His pursuit of justice took him to Northwest Missouri State University, where he graduated with honors in political science, before continuing his legal education at UMKC School of Law. There, Gunner's advocacy skills were honed as he earned the American College of Trial Lawyers' Medal for Excellence in Advocacy after competing in the National Trial Competition.

Before joining Murphy & Kinney, Gunner worked as a trial lawyer at a reputable Missouri personal injury firm, gaining invaluable experience in products liability, dram shop, and catastrophic injury cases.
